5 Great Self-Care Tips to Beat Stress

by | Tips & Tricks

We’ve all been there: you prepare for a huge launch or work on beating a deadline, so you’ve been on your computer all day… But before you know it, it’s 10:00 PM on a Friday night, with greasy hair and dark circles around your eyes, not realizing that a week has gone by without you seeing the sun. Your family and friends haven’t heard from you for some time, and you can’t remember when you last had a decent meal….

And that’s before the pandemic..

As entrepreneurs, we are experiencing higher levels of stress and pressure than usual during these challenging times, but also as entrepreneurs we should also be wired to cope by firstly, taking care of ourselves so we can take care of our business. Self-care may usually take the back seat, but it’s about time we buckle it up front!

Here are 5 easy ways to make sure you’re still taking good care of yourself, amid all that empire-building during these crazy times:

1. Have a few moments of quiet time in the morning.

Waking up earlier than usual and taking a few minutes to yourself to just breathe, relax, and collect your thoughts help set the mood for your entire day. Block some time for meditation or writing your affirmations in a journal.

1. Exercise

Exercise releases good hormones, known as endorphins, that make you feel better and decreases your stress levels. Dedicating 30 minutes or an hour for cardio in the morning to get your heart pumping and increase your energy levels also helps.

3. Drink warm lemon water as soon as you wake up

A great tip is leaving the lemon out on the counter the night before. Not only does it make it easier to squeeze juice out, having it in plain sight when you get up helps you remember to prepare your morning elixir.

4. Allow for short breaks throughout the day

Working long hours non-stop can take a toll on productivity. Remember, busy doesn’t necessarily equate to productive. Be smart about your time and make sure to take short breaks so you can recharge and refocus.

5. Document your wins

Sometimes, we’re too hard on ourselves. We tend to focus on what we haven’t done and forget the things we’ve actually accomplished. Guilty of this? I know we all are! Make it a habit to list down your wins – big or small. Ending your day with a positive mindset helps set your mood for the next day!

Conclusion:

Building your empire especially during challenging times doesn’t have to drain you and taking good care of yourself is taking care of your business.

Making sure you’re always in tip top shape, physically and mentally, also ensures your business’ continuous growth and progress.
